P.S. problem solved - I had to export the image from Aperture first to get the best quality, or else it's just a thumbnail preview in aperture.
But still, the image is a little washed out.
Before - eyes barely visible, some red and blue on the sweater.
After - As shown - lightened her up, lens blurred the background
All subtle changes, but better than the original
